Ben Kerido / From Israel with Love Blog
These are some of my “extreme” views on what I want for the United States.
I want all American citizens to have undiluted and unquestioned Constitutional rights. That includes the freedom of speech, the freedom to protest peacefully and orderly, the freedom to bear arms, and proper judicial proceedings.
I want all persons to be considered and treated as equal in every possible way with no regard whatsoever for race, religion, gender, or any other factor.
I want people to have integrity and stand up for what is right, regardless of political outcome, and not just blindly support a political party and agenda (especially not to the point of disregarding civil and Constitutional rights for all or even human life).
I want investments in inner cities in the areas of education, trade skills, small business loans, etc., that induce attitudes of self-confidence and assist people who come from disadvantaged backgrounds to rise above their challenges, realize and reach their potential, and independently succeed for themselves and their families.
I want a welfare system that supports those who truly need it (the disabled, widows, etc.) while not incentivizing people of sound mind and body to refuse to work.
I want university education to be cheaper by means of regulating how much tuition costs, and not by forcing other people to pay for degrees that are exponentially more expensive than anywhere else on earth. Harvard is valued at over $40 billion in assets, and yet charges a quarter of a million dollars per degree. That’s outrageous, and no other nation allows their universities to do that, even those colleges comparable to Ivy-league schools.
I want all national borders to be secure.
I want a reformed immigration policy that makes it easier and more streamlined for quality, law-abiding persons to become American citizens while screening those applicants who are not an ideal addition to the nation.
I want a military that is strong and decisive and that maintains (or even lowers) its budget by increasing efficiency and reducing waste without sacrificing effectiveness or soldiers’ benefits.
I want our US veterans to be supported with medical care and other assistance at a level at the very least equal to the rest of the nation.
I want military strategy to follow the principles of being swift and decisive, destroying the enemy quickly and minimizing civilian casualties. I want a military policy that instills fear in our enemies and terrorists while avoiding unnecessary, drawn-out wars and inexplicably expensive occupations.
I want a foreign policy that supports our strategic and moral allies (especially Israel) and deters our enemies. I want our friends and allies to be supported while we avoid paying disproportionately for joint coalitions and actions. I want to eradicate policies of appeasement that try to “buy off” hostile nations and terrorist organizations by sending them money.
I want law enforcement personnel who are good and upstanding to be commended and solidly supported while those who are bad and corrupt are held accountable and immediately removed from positions where they can damage our communities.
I want term limits for all political offices.
I want elections that are processed efficiently and transparently. I want to know within 24-48 hours exactly who won an election without any possibility of people voting who are not allowed to do so because of death and other disqualifying factors. I want our elections to be fair and secure, and ideally to follow a system of paper ballots. I want bipartisan, transparent post-election audits to be common and acceptable, and maybe even mandatory. I only want legal registered voters with proper identification to vote in person, with the possible exception being a highly limited and rigorously protected absentee ballot process.
I want all crises to be handled immediately and effectively by the appropriate political leader and/or government agency. I don’t want excuses, and I especially don’t want to hear that the relevant leader is on vacation and refuses to come back to the office.
I want to know beyond any doubt who actually makes the decisions and policies in our nation. I don’t want to have political leaders that we all look at and say, “There is no way he / she came up with that…”
I want a president who can formulate a coherent sentence and can keep his bowels under control when visiting foreign dignitaries. I want a president who doesn’t creep us all out by sniffing children.
And I want a few brutally honest and refreshingly mean tweets (or even better, “truths” on TruthSocial!)
While the American people might not all agree on the best way to achieve these goals, I am dumbfounded at how many Americans consider these objectives to somehow be “morally wrong” and even “reprehensible.” And according to the current iteration of the United States government, apparently these views make those who embrace them “extremist” and even “dangerous.”
I never thought that patriotic Americans who want equal rights and Constitution protections for all along with a reasonable and accountable system of limited government would ever be classified as “dangerous extremism.” But… here we are.
